MAY 22nd: ALTERNATIVE NIGHT
The Footage
We’re a London based band. We’ve just recorded an EP, called (in a psychedelic lurch of inspiration) Extended Play, which is now available. Influences include Velvet Underground, Holland Dozier Holland, Randy Newman and The Clash. www.thefootage.co.uk
Left With Pictures
Left With Pictures are a trio of musicians based in London. They make their music using instruments they found in their bedrooms and cellars, such as acoustic guitars, tambourines, violins, djembes, keyboards, melodicas and harmonicas. They also all use their voices! The music is delicate and eccentric. with strange textures and melodies that cast long shadows. Their 6-track EP has received excellent reviews and you can listen to tracks, read articles, and buy the EP from www.leftwithpictures.com.
William Nein
William Nein started playing music ’cause he wanted to be like Zack in Saved by the Bell. Then he grew up and liked Bon Jovi. Now he writes Folk/Punk songs where people without heads get asked if they’d like another cup of tea? And where Fish die, because they’ve been fed too much love. Where people throw away their shoes just to meet somebody of the opposite sex, and where humans and sharks live in harmony, and share veggie burger’s in an underwater cafe. If you want, you can come and join us.
Artisan
“Isn’t that absolutely gorgeous?…. beautiful!”
-Claire Sturgess, XFM
Rich vocal harmony, intricately-plucked guitars, double bass, and skiffle driven drums.
MAY 24th: ROCK NIGHT
Supervisor
A fierce 4-piece rock/jazz/soul/psychedelic combination. One foot firmly planted in 1966 Haight-Ashbury District, one in 1970s New york and the other in the swinging London Rock scene of tomorrow. Remember proper R&B? Well fuse it with a bit of grind, an ounce of thrash and a pinch of Waits - it’s a heavy groove. “Mommy watch your daughter, daughter watch your mommy!”
Manumit
At times crushing and almost vicious, at other times atmospheric and transcendent and sometimes just funky and fun, a Manumit set is anything but predictable.
El Capitan
El Capitan is a London-based three-piece consisting of Steve McColl on bass/vocals, Chris Warmington on guitar/vocals, and Yan White on drums. We just finished our first demo.
Harmonika
Influences include Johnny Cash, Neil Young, The Pixies, Grunge, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Rolling Stones, Primal Scream, Real Life Cats.
