- Year-round Arts Administration/Management 3 - 6 month Rota’d Internship Positions:
- Assistant Administrators (includes general company related production management): Duties will include responsibilities within marketing, financial and production operations. This is an opportunity suitable for a candidate who is organised, efficient,diligent and open to learning. Experience in Arts Administration would be an advantage. Applicants should be able to communicate effectively, possess sound computing skills and an ability to work in a team. See below for a more detailed job description.
- Fundraising Assistants: Key tasks will involve researching appropriate national, regional, local, arts funders, supporting the Senior Management and Project staff with writing and developing funding applications as appropriate. Keeping the Practicum staff team updated with any news or changes within arts funding as gathered during research. Researching appropriate national sponsors, supporting the Senior Management and Project staff team in writing sponsorship proposals, and developing ongoing relationships with sponsors. Assisting with the development and delivery of occasional fundraising events as and when required. See below for a more detailed job description.
- Project Specific Production/Technical Internship Positions:
- Production/ Administrative Intern : These positions will be year round and are suitable for those who are looking to work in arts administration and production. This can include speaking with press, fundraising and other administrative work.
- Production intern : These positions are on a show per show basis and are suitable for those looking to produce.
- Technical intern : These positions are on a show per show basis and can range from design and technical support to stage management.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Administrative Assistant for Practicum
HOURS OF WORK: Flexible, Per-Project Basis, Rolling 2 month Internships
SALARY: Expenses Provided
RESPONSIBLE TO: General Manager of Practicum Theatre
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Light Administrative Duties including Press and Marketing, Mailings, Sourcing/Coordinating Rehearsal Venues and Liaising with Associate Artists.
Aims of the post
- To be responsible for assisting the General Manager in administering arts projects and associated outreach work for Practicum.
- To provide administrative support to the Practicum team, creating efficient systems and maintaining the smooth running of current projects.
- To be responsible for helping to develop new audiences for Practicum, through outreach, marketing and publicity.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To provide administrative support for the General Manager, to ensure the smooth running of current Practicum projects.
- To contribute to the development of communication systems for Practicum in relation to the overall strategy. This includes communication between the team, with artists, with the local community and with the media on a per project basis.
- To work with the General Manager and the Fundraising Assistant in the administration associated with raising funds for new projects and activities from sources such as charitable trusts, local authority and European funds as required.
- To implement systems for the support and monitoring of arts activities including occasional staff, volunteers, associate artists and undertake market research and the collation of statistical information.
- In conjunction with the General Manager of Practicum, to ensure that annual budgets are set and that project income and expenditure is monitored and accounted for within budget.
- To liaise with the Practicum team on joint activities, to attend staff meetings as appropriate and to produce reports when required.
Personal specification
- Background and keen interest in the arts
- At least one years experience of work in a post that includes a range of administrative duties
- Evidence of an ability to think strategically, including a proven ability to develop innovative arts projects in a community setting
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrable commitment to and understanding of, equal opportunities
- Proven ability to initiate and complete projects
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of audience development, marketing and publicity
- Experience of basic fundraising from a variety of sources
- Experience of using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Access, or similar programmes
- Willing to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends
- Interest in the promotion of new writing for the theatre
