He has recently played Alexandre Yersin in a drama documentary for WGBH Boston. As a writer, he has written four plays, one screenplay and is currently working on an animated feature. As a playwright, Sam has won several awards for excellence in playwriting in her native Canada. In 2004 she completed the Young Writers Programme at the Royal Court Theatre in London, England. Her play BUNKERS featured in the Foresite DOING LINES festival at the Pleasance Theatre in 2005. Her play HUSH premiered at the Pleasance Dome at the Edinburgh Festival 2005, garnering a Fringe First Nomination and later transferred to The Arcola Theatre in London in October. Sam’s latest play is being workshopped on the Stratford Fringe towards a London reading later in the year. She is also working on a commission for the Finborough Theatre. As an actress, Sam has performed in the theatre in Toronto, London and New York. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts’ Acting Shakespeare Course. She can also be seen in the feature film ‘Lie Still’, currently showing in selected European Film Festivals. |

A Canadian writer & educator, Heather Taylor has been published throughout Europe and North America and has been a host on Resonance FM & Sound Radio with guest slots on CKUA, CKUF, BBC London Radio and Radio Canada International. In October, her first full poetry collection, Horizon & Back, was published by Tall-Lighthouse books. As a playwright, Heather has been a member of the Young Writers Program at the Royal Court Theatre. Her piece, Intersection, was featured in the Doing Lines festival at the Pleasance Theatre in London May, 2005. She has recently been commissioned by Liverpool’s LLT and Unity Theatre to write a full length puppetry piece in 2006/2007 and was top 40 in the Soho Theatre’s Verity Bergate Award (2004) for her play ‘home.’ For more information, see www.heathertaylor.co.uk. |

ANNA VAMOS |
Anna completed her MA in English Language and Literature in Budapest where she also attended the Academy of Theatre and Film to train as a Literary Advisor / Dramaturg. For 5 years, Anna worked as Literary Advisor, Assistant to the Director and Head of International Coordination for the Radnoti Miklos Theatre. Alongside her work as general manager for Practicum, Anna is also completing an internship with PEN in London. |

AMAR BENSIDHOUM |
Amar is a graduate from London Metropolitan University in 2005, has studied in B.A. Honours Theatre Studies and has performed in a range of productions including ‘Craved’ by Sarah Kane. He enjoys plays which are politically motivated and is interested in how theatre can be an influence within community development. Other interests include reading and sport. |
CHLOE PREECE |
Chloe is a citizen of the world having three nationalities, speaking four languages and constantly travelling around the globe! She studied English Literature and Cultural Studies at McGill University in Montreal and then did an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries at King’s College London. Her background is in fundraising activities and press and marketing, mainly for film and tv having worked at Film London, CBS news and at various film festivals. She is extremely involved in the arts more generally whether helping to organize fine art exhibitions or writing theatre reviews for www.londontheatre.co.uk. |
DANIEL ROLLINGS |
Daniel graduated from the University of York in Spring 2007 with a Masters in Writing and Performance. Whilst at York Daniel was part of the team which founded and established HOBO Theatre; a small independent theatre company which specialized in performing in unusual spaces. Daniel’s ambitions lie in directing and his interests are in dance and physical theatre with international themes. Daniel has recently completed the first full-time internship at the Gate Theatre, Notting Hill. |
YING XIONG |
As a current MA student in Cultural and Creative Industry, Kings College – London, Ying’s interest lies within visual and performing art, music & poetry and film critics. At the moment she is working on her dissertation with a focus on the eccentric world of Tom Waits. This will be a critical culture perspective approach exploring his ongoing social impact from levels of the film, literary and music industry. |

“Working for Practicum theatre equips you with the experience and necessary skills essential for your career progression in the world of arts. Since starting my internship in December, I have come into contact with many responsibilities that have helped me gain a greater understanding of theatre production. My duties have included assisting in promotion and fundraising campaigns, liaising with contributors, dealing with correspondence, writing web articles and learning about press releases. I have helped out with music nights for fundraising, sourced suitable venues for rehearsals and production meetings, and undertaken general administrative responsibilities. Not only has the experience been vocationally rewarding, but I’ve also met many interesting and fun people and everyone involved in Practicum are friendly and approachable and will help get you involved with the experience you need to further your career.” |
